Like Softest Music was commissioned by Christopher Scinta for his wife, Amelia, in celebration of their tenth wedding anniversary. Both are members of Vocalis Chamber Choir, who premiered the piece. It is scored for double choir. The words are by William Shakespeare, excerpted from Romeo & Juliet.
